The Kyoto Hotel Okura has been awarded four red pavilions (the highest possible grade) by the Michelin Guide Kyoto & Osaka 2010, ranking it among the top of the 13 Kyoto hotels included in the guide.

In addition, the Awata Sanso villa restaurant in Awataguchi, Higashiyama, which serves Kyoto cuisine, was selected to receive one star. It was also awarded four red spoons and forks (the highest possible grade|in the Michelin guides, red signifies gmore comfortablehfor the same number of marks). This rating denotes an exceptionally comfortable establishment in terms of factors such as service and furnishings. It is the third highest ranking received by any Kyoto establishment.
